Destry Dobbs

Destry Dobbs grew up on a ranch in eastern-Oklahoma and came to Oklahoma State in the Fall of ’93 where he studied Psychology and Religious studies. As an undergraduate student he became heavily involved in OSUXA – particularly in the area of outreach. After graduation, Dobbs completed a CMIT at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, LA.
Post-CMIT, Dobbs worked for Chi Alpha in the area of campus outreach, traveling extensively while basing out of Tahlequah, Tulsa, and then Norman in Oklahoma. Subsequently, he pioneered Chi Alpha chapters on the BMCC, Hunter College, and City College campuses in New York, NY. After a five-year stint in the corporate world (during which time he obtained his MBA) Dobbs returned to his alma mater as Director of OSUXA in 2011. Over the next nine years, Destry and Cynthia, along with an incredible team of campus missionaries, saw the Lord reinvigorate the ministry of XA, establish a CMIT program, and create a missional culture within OSUXA. Dobbs is thrilled to be a part of the Tulsa XA Trailblazing Team.

Cynthia Dobbs

Born twelve time-zones away from her current home in Oklahoma, Cynthia shares from an understanding and reliance on the Lord forged through unique experiences. Her incredible story weaves through a childhood growing up in India, losing her mother at a young age, life at boarding school, accompanying her father (a diplomat to the United Nations) on assignment to America, adjusting to the ‘Cowboy’ culture of Oklahoma, graduate work in Biochemistry, and the transition to full-time ministry.  Her story is the backdrop for the message of hope and encouragement she shares with college students.

Cynthia serves on staff with Tulsa Chi Alpha, and as Director of the Oklahoma Network of Women Ministers (Women of Valor).  She also works with Project Rescue, supporting their efforts to combat the horrors of human trafficking.  Cynthia often speaks at special events and conferences through messages that are engaging, informed, and inspirational. She provides training in areas of Prayer, Spiritual Warfare, Spiritual Disciplines, Discipleship, and Leadership. Cynthia is the author of numerous devotional and ministry resources, perhaps most notably Ramen Noodles for the Collegiate Soul. Her work has been featured in publications as varied as New York’s Voice of the Voiceless and Guideposts Magazine.

Vanessa Taylor
TU XA Coordinator

Vanessa is an Oklahoma native, who started her XA journey in August 2010 with the CMIT internship at University of Louisiana in Lafayette. After her internship she joined the Oklahoma XA team under Greg and Susan Tiffany. When the Tiffany’s transitioned to their new assignment on another campus Vanessa took over leadership of the staff at Tulsa Chi Alpha.

Vanessa provides leadership to Chi Alpha’s activities at the University of Tulsa campus, and oversees the many creative projects at Tulsa XA.  She also leads a discipleship group of young ladies from a variety of backgrounds.  Vanessa say’s she loves Chi Alpha for “…the opportunity to work with so many talented men and women, who believe in God’s ability to change the world through changing the campus.”

In her free time Vanessa enjoys knitting, painting and spending time with her favorite people.

Dacia Peterman
Training Officer

Dacia Peterman has an infectious love for Jesus, coffee, all that is artistic, and much that is nerdy. She is a leader with a heart to serve people and connect them to all God has for their life. Her love for serving others has been cultivated in the local church, at home, and around the world. Dacia’s Chi Alpha story began before she even stepped on campus at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She first connected with XA during the spring of 2009 at a women’s retreat for SWOSU Chi Alpha. Dacia served on the XA Leadership Team for most of her time at SWOSU where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. In January of 2013 she attended the World Missions Summit. During that conference, Dacia committed to the challenge to “give a year and pray about a lifetime”. Her one year commitment to give back to her alma mater’s Chi Alpha chapter turned into three. She also worked at a coffee shop and served as Residential Director for a private, co-ed, Christian dorm. In the spring of 2016, Dacia transferred to Tulsa Chi Alpha, where she has become an irreplaceable member of the team.

DuWayne “Tiberius” Lee
Missions Associate

DuWayne Lee is the newest member to the team, having just graduated the CMIT program in Oklahoma State University. He had spent three years at Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology, working on his Bachelors in Instrumentation Engineering and Technology. While there, DuWayne pioneered a Chi Alpha group on campus! He then graduated and went to work at Kimberly Clark as a maintenance electrician for two years, until God called DuWayne out of the workforce and back into the mission field. DuWayne has a heart for young students who are dealing with depression and wants to reach out to campuses that don’t have a Chi Alpha presence yet.
